For the most part on these posts, I’ve been letting the photos do the talking, but here’s a small backstory for this little photoset. Agnes, the woman shown in these photos, was extremely sick with malaria and had to be taken to the hospital from the village, and this is the condition of the hospital we took her to. Dirt floors, no window coverings. A spiderweb draped across her IV bottle, and a tattered poster warning of Ebola control safety protocols. The walls of the hospital are lined with broken glass, presumably to either prevent intruders from scaling the wall, or to prevent disease-carrying birds from roosting close to the sickly. Or both.
Despite the fact that these aren’t the most technically proficient photos I took, I felt they were some of the most powerful. Amazing, the conditions some of these people must endure on a day to day basis.
