Day 4 started out slow, as we were both pretty beat from two solid days of driving followed immediately by two solid days of riding. At this point, drives started to melt into one another. There was no riding to be done today, but we took a long, easy morning to setup at a Best Western with WiFi to attempt to fix David’s computer (hard drive error) before making a leisurely pace to Arches National Park.
Delicate Arch was the main attraction here: we hiked up several hours prior to sunset to get the best possible lighting and set up before any crowds rolled in. At sundown, we were on top of the mesa with maybe 15 other people. Utah is pretty dead in the middle of winter.
Also amazing was Double Arch, which was actually a fairly treacherous hike once under the arches. Lots of loose sandstone and steep walls to lose your footing on.
And last in Arches (but first on our itinerary as we drove through) was Turret Arch, which has this wild little stick…. thing at the base of it. Here’s David being awesome under Turret Arch.
